In the future, all outpatient ambulance transports will no longer be a standard benefit of the statutory health insurance companies. The costs of this service will only be covered in exceptional cases and with the prior written approval of the health insurance companies. This new regulation now also applies to transports with an ambulance (KTW) ! Outpatient trips are trips that can be planned for treatment in a doctor's office or hospitals. What do you have to consider? If you have to use an ambulance for outpatient treatment, you will first need a fully completed medical prescription as before. In addition, you need a written approval from your health insurance company for the corresponding means of transport (KTW) immediately before you start your journey . Since, according to the will of the legislature, outpatient transports should only take place in exceptional cases at the expense of the health insurance companies, you as a patient must expect that, if your health insurance company does not cover the travel costs, you will be charged with the remuneration for the journey itself .
